DO’s

Determine whether you want to prioritize having a working area, more custom cabinetries for storage or a spacious living room.
• Set boundaries using different accents. How you use furniture counts big time. Remember that furniture should sit away from the walls, creating small areas that facilitate conversation. Moreover, you can use plants and other items that you can use as dividers. 
• Organize your things. Put or place designated areas for particular items. This way, you can maintain your space neatly. You will also be at ease whenever you need to find your belongings whenever you need them. Hence, make sure to incorporate plenty of cabinets and strategically placed storage.

DON’Ts

• Fail to prepare. Be aware of how important it is to plan ahead of time. You can always start by considering the layout of the space and how it makes sense with your life. You may seek assistance from experts whenever necessary.
• Forget about lighting. Light is an essential factor, both in terms of natural illumination and the placement of fittings. Remember that whenever designing, think about which rooms are in your open plan design, their uses and how often each room is used.
